The former Mayor of Melton was welcomed back to celebrate his efforts in raising £6,648.80 for his two chosen charities during his year in office.

Cllr David Wright invited representatives from Rainbows Hospice and Melton Community First Responders to collect the proceeds from his Mayor’s Appeal 2016/17.

Mr Wright said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with Rainbows and Melton Community First Responders. This presentation to them will help towards them achieving their important fundraising goals.”

Rainbows community fundraiser, Jess Dixon, said: “We’re grateful for this generous donation which will be used for the care of life limited children and young people, as well as supporting families through the most difficult time of their lives.”

Melton Community First Responders coordinator, Ina Scott, said: “This donation will help to provide life saving equipment for the benefit of the local community.”

Collections from the town’s Tesco store also contributed a further £309.94 for Melton Community First Responders and £75 for Rainbows.
