Determined runners soaked up the sunshine and took part in the first ever Great Dalby Dollop.

The challenge infront of them consisted of a five kilometre fun run and walk across farmland at Vine Farm.

The event was organised by St Swithuns PCC and aimed to raise funds towards the upkeep of the village church.

Organiser Ruth Mann said: “There were 121 entries of all ages including runners, walkers, children and dogs.

“The weather was glorious and everyone enjoyed refreshments and a barbecue afterwards.

“We raised a magnificent total of £1,010.

“Thanks must go to the Hatherley family for setting up the course and doing the timing.

“We are also grateful to all who sponsored and volunteered at the event including local businesses and villagers.”

Race results: 1st place - Mike Bryan (Stilton Striders) 23.27 mins, 1st lady - Fiona Stephenson 24.46 mins, 1st child - Charlie Thompson 33.44mins and 1st Great Dalby resident was Lloyd Wells 30.34 mins.
