The campaign will focus on five key crime areas that normally peak during summer months. They are burglary, anti-social and nuisance behaviour, personal safety, vehicle crime and online safety.

Neighbourhood policing lead Supt Kerry Mclernon said: “If people take responsibility for their actions and respect others everyone can enjoy their summer.”

The campaign is being backed by a range of organisations including Melton Council and Leicestershire County Council.

Coun Joe Orson, the county council’s cabinet member for safer communities, said: “We’re proud to support the campaign. Following a few simple steps when you’re home or out can have a big impact on preventing crime.”
