If 100,000 people sign up it’s likely to spark a parliamentary debate.

Campaigners are hoping to reverse an NHS England proposal to close the unit. Officials from NHS England have said it has been assessed that the Glenfield service doesn’t meet all of the requirements under agreed new commissioning standards for congenital heart disease services, which came into effect from April, and that it was unlikely to be able to meet the new standards.

Thousands of people from across Leicestershire and beyond have already signed petitions calling for the centre to be saved but now supporters are being urged to sign the new petition which is calling for a public review into NHS England’s decision.
