Plenty of family fun will once more be on offer when the Syston Carnival bursts into action tomorrow afternoon (Saturday).
Music, dancing, competitions and displays will light up the arena in Cemtral Park, from noon until 4.30pm.
This year’s theme is ‘The Vintage Years ‘40s, ‘50s and ‘60s’ with fancy dress contests for both adults and children, challenging them to wear distinctive clothes from those eras.
Anyone who wants to enter is asked to register at the carnival HQ tent by 2.30pm, ready for the judging at 3pm by the Mayor of Charnwood, Councillor John Capleton, and the Mayoress, Meg Jenkinson.
They will also be touring stalls and attractions and awarding prizes to some of the competition winners, as well as drawing the first 10 tickets of the carnival’s main prize draw.
The day will begin with a performance by the Syston Band and there will also be music performed by Syston Scout and Guide Band.
Displays willl be given by McManus Irish Dancing School and Queniborough Dance Company and there will also be cup cake and homemade jam competitions in the carnival HQ tent.
Children’s sports games will also be played during the day at what should be another well-attended event.
