Families had fun in the sun and enjoyed a wealth of free activities in Melton’s parks last week.
The activities, which were part of the nationwide ‘Love Your Parks Week,’ were organised by the Melton Mowbray Town Estate for the sixth year running.
The programme, which attracted in excess of 200 people, included free tennis, five-a-side football and crazy golf, train rides and a concert by the Nottingham Concert Band and the Ibstock Brick Brass Band.
Visitors were also encouraged to take a look at three new ‘interpretation boards,’ recently installed in Egerton Lodge Memorial Garden, to remember fallen servicemen.
The week culminated with the star attraction a teddy bears’ picnic, for youngsters, in Wilton Park on Friday, supported by Melton Police.
The afternoon also included a bouncy castle, get the football past the goalie game, egg and spoon races , sack races, mums’ and dads’ races and poster colouring competition.
Dinah Hickling, Senior Town Warden, said: “It was another great occasion with lots of attractions for people to enjoy.
“Thanks must go to Melton Mowbray Town Estate members and everybody involved.”
