Sherard Primary School pupils were mesmerised by Cockerpoo Elsa when they were visited by Vets4less head veterinary surgeon Jon Crosher and his receptionist Rowena Smith on Monday.

As part of pupils preparation for adulthood, the school have been inviting professionals from the local area to help motivate and inspire Year 6.

The children learnt about the various jobs available to them helping animals and Jon explained the different routes into veterinary science.

Pupils even had the chance to examine Elsa’s heartbeat through a stethoscope.

Year 6 teacher Hayley Cheesman said: “The children were all thrilled to meet Jon. They had mounds of questions relating to looking after animals and the options available to them.”
