Intrigued year 13 students at Melton Vale Post 16 Centre (MV16) were visited by the Guide Dogs Association as part of a special fundraising awareness day at the college.
Pupils were led blindfolded around a tricky obstacle course by Upton (Golden Retriever) to gain an understanding of what it feels like not to be able to see, whilst his trainer Mark explained the training involved and the service dogs provide.
An animal themed baking competition was also held with the cakes being judged and auctioned off. A total of £96.61 was raised.
A spokesperson at MV16 said: “In addition to the cake sale, collection buckets were passed around during the demonstration to raise even more for this worthwhile cause.
“Well done to all the bakers, buyers and volunteers who took part and thanks to Upton, Mark and the Guide Dog Association for visiting us at MV16.”
