Children at The Grove Primary School in Melton had a wonderful time building dens as part of “National Build a Den Week.”

The Grove has an excellent Forest school area within the grounds which provided the ideal environment for the children to take part in outdoor learning.

Pupils worked in teams to collect the resources needed for their den. Some constructed a basic frame using branches and rope and weaved smaller sticks in between while others used tarpaulins, crates and wooden planks.

Headteacher Michael Owen said: “We have two superb outdoor areas here which really enhances the learning experiences for our children.

“The den building gave the children challenges to overcome and really focused on teamwork and cooperation.”

The school are taking part in a non-uniform day tomorrow to raise funds for The Nepal Earthquake Appeal and Save the Children UK.
