The Grove is working with Food for Life to transform its food culture, and that of its local community, by connecting its pupils with climate-friendly and healthy food.

As part of the bronze award scheme the school gives every pupil the opportunity to visit a farm, cook and participate in food growing activities during their time at school and pupils and parents are involved in making improvements to the school’s menu and dining experience.

Headteacher Mike Owen said: “We’re delighted to receive this award and look forward to the children enjoying even more cooking activities across the curriculum.”

Year One teacher and Forest School leader Karina Hazeldine said: “All children have taken part in planting and caring for the fruit and vegetables in the raised beds. When they’re ready to harvest the children will pick their crop and sample them.”
