Selfless and driven headteacher at Swallowdale school to retire

An exceptionally dedicated and friendly role model for pupils at a primary school in Melton is to step down from her position as headteacher, at the end of the current summer term.

Miss Debbie Vials is retiring after 10 years in charge at Swallowdale Primary School.

She has overseen the most successful period in Swallowdale’s forty plus years of existence, steering the school to achieving an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted report in 2012.

David Robb chair or governors said: “In that time, it has been my privilege to have worked closely together with her and her team, giving me a close view of her professionalism.

“Debbie’s obvious love and commitment to the success of Swallowdale Primary School is clear for all to see.

“She has been a superb role model for anyone setting out in a career of teaching; there could have been no better example to guide them on their chosen path. Her friendly demeanour and approach has ensured a great rapport with all members of staff and pupils alike.

“Debbie will be an extremely hard act to follow and I can confidently say that she will be missed by everyone associated with the school.”
