A drama group from Canada performed a play for John Ferneley College students as part of Black History Month.
The gripping play focused on the different ways of coping with and conquering bullying and racism, using the motto ‘block the haters.’
The actors impersonated figures from around the world such as Mary Prince, Mary Jane Seacole and Sislin Fay Allen who became Britain’s first black female police officer when she joined the Metropolitan Police in 1968.
Year 9 student Hayden Lloyd said: “The show was brilliant. I really liked how they used comedy to teach us about history.”
The group also held workshops where students were taught how to improvise to boost their confidence and then were given the task of creating anti bullying adverts in groups.
