Register by Wednesday for local ballots

CANDIDATES have been announced for the vacant Egerton Ward on Melton Council.

All three live in Melton and they are Mike Brown, who is standing for Labour, Paul Thomas Phizacklea (Conservative) and Mark Twittey (Independent).

A by-election will be held on November 15 to decide the successor to Labour councillor Steve Dungworth, who resigned from the council on health grounds.

A ballot will also be held on the same day to elect a Police and Crime Commissioner for Leicestershire Police. Asfordby residents can also vote for a casual vacancy on the parish council.

Voters must be registered by 5pm on Wednesday October 31. Telephone 01664 502502 or email ElectoralServices@melton.gov.uk to register or for more details.
