Simeon Piwek, who is 39 and of no fixed abode, has been charged and remanded to court in connection with a burglary at a Melton school. He will next appear in court on Friday.

Samuel McGrady (29), from Drummond Walk, Melton, has been charged and remanded to court in relation to two burglaries at businesses in the town and a breach of court bail. He will next appear in court on September 14.

Officers also arrested 35-year-old Leigh Orridge, of Staveley Road in the town, on one charge of attempted burglary, a theft from a shop and seven breaches of court bail.

He has been remanded in custody and is awaiting a court date.

Gavin Tait, who is 37 and of no fixed abode, has been charged with five offences of theft from shops and one of a failure to appear in court. Tait appeared before Leicester Magistrates court today (Monday) where he pleaded guilty and was fined and received a drug rehabilitation order.

Inspector Gavin Drummond, the neighbourhood policing commander for Melton, said: “I hope people in the town are reassured that we do take business crime seriously.”
