Ryan Crookes, of Melton Road, Thurmaston, was sentenced on Friday to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to one count of disclosing a private sexual photograph with intent to cause distress at a hearing last month.

He has also been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for 10 years.

The 19-year-old sent the image to the victim’s family and a friend in an attempt to prompt contact with her.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of making an indecent photograph and sexual activity with a girl, on the same victim, who he began a sexual relationship with when she was 15 years old.

He also pleaded guilty to one count of sexual activity with a girl, in relation to a second 15-year-old victim.

DC Victoria Robbie from Leicestershire Police’s Child Sexual Exploitation Team, said: “Crookes knew both of the victims ages, yet still continued to pursue a sexual relationship with them.

“I know the victims have both been deeply affected by what happened to them and ultimately, without their courage and support we would not have been able to bring Crookes to justice.”

She added: “We are committed to tackling child sexual exploitation, we take all reports seriously and investigate them thoroughly. It can be very difficult for people to come forward and report abuse, whether it happened a long time ago or more recently.

“We have a specialist team who deal with these cases and we work closely with social workers and other partner agencies to provide the best possible help and support to the victims.

“I would urge anyone who thinks they could be a victim to come forward. Anyone that does contact us will have their report treated with the upmost sensitivity and specialist officers will be on hand to support and assist them.”

Anyone who is, or thinks they may be, a victim of child sexual exploitation can call Leicestershire Police on 101 or, the NSPCC 0808 800 5000.
