Man (41) charged with causing death by careless driving while impaired through drugs after collision in Melton

A 41-year-old man has been charged after a fatal collision involving a car and a pedestrian in Melton in November 2013.

The man, who has been charged with causing death by careless driving while impaired through drugs, is due to appear at Loughborough Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 18.

Police said the charge relates to a collision on Friday, November 15, 2013 in Saxby Road which resulted in the death of 79-year-old grandfather Brian Sheldon.

Mr Sheldon, of Bishop Street, moved to Melton from the West Midlands in the early 1980s.

In a previous interview with the Melton Times Mr Sheldon’s son, Robert, said his dad was settled in the town and was known by many.

Mr Sheldon was also a member of the Melton Royal British Legion and an ex-member of the Melton Conservative Club.
