Melton Council has raised the rainbow flag at its Parkside offices to mark the national Lesbian Gay Bisexual Trans History month of February.
Flying the flag is a symbol of commitment to the LGBT community and is part of the ongoing work to create a fair and just society.
The council has also started confidential surgeries at its offices hosted by Leicester LGBT Centre on the third Wednesday of each month from (4-6pm) for residents, and (12-4pm) for professionals.
Melton Council deputy leader Pam Posnett, said: “I’m delighted that this service is the first of its kind across Leicestershire and although progress has been made there is still much work left to do.”
