Queniborough Village Hall, has secured the grant which will be used for a much needed roof replacement which will do away with leaks and drafts and help to make the hall a pleasant place to use and enjoy.

Liz Ellis, secretary of the village hall management committee and project manager for the renovation, said: “Without the Biffa Award grant and the new roof we would almost certainly have had to close the village hall in the next few years meaning a number of local groups would either disband or look outside of the village for somewhere to meet.

“We want to thank Biffa Award for making it possible for us to take the most important step in our refurbishment programme and to the whole village community who supported us with our application and whose support is vital for the continued survival of the hall.”

A roofing contractor is replacing the roof during the current Easter holidays, and, weather permitting; the hall will be ready to use on Monday.

Edward Argar, MP for Charnwood, who supported the village hall management committee throughout the grant application process, will be officially re-opening the hall at a ceremony there at 10am on Saturday, April 16.
