Enjoy activities in Melton and Asfordby during mental health awareness week

A range of activities will be taking place in Melton and Asfordby from Monday (May 16) as part of a mental health awareness week.

Melton Library, on Wilton Road, will be hosting numerous activities including a ‘make friends with a book’ event on Monday, 10.30am to noon, a Voluntary Action Melton volunteer drop-in session on Tuesday, 2pm to 4pm, a ‘relax and sew’ free sewing workshop for adults on Wednesday, 11am to 1pm, and a free colouring club event for adults and children on Friday, 1pm to 3pm.

Elsewhere there will be ‘come and learn’ tai chi sessions taking place at Gloucester House on Norman Way, Melton, on Monday from 11.30am to 12.30pm. It’s £3.50 for the session, no booking required.

Another tai chi session, costing £3, is being held at the Bradgate Flats in Asfordby on Thursday, 10am to 11am.

Other activities taking place in Melton include walking basketball, organised by the Leicester Riders, taking place at the Melton Sports Village on Burton Road on Thursday, 6pm to 7pm. Ideal for families and older adults, the first session will be free.

On Friday there will be a free Magpie Craft Group session at Me and My Learning, Phoenix House, on Nottingham Road, 10am to noon.

And on Saturday there will be walking football for adults at the Asfordby Hill playing fields (Mowbray Rangers ground), from 10.30am to 11.30am.
