Beacons lit in Somerby and Twyford to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday
Beacons were lit in Somerby and Twyford to celebrate the Queen's 90th birthday on Thursday.
Melton borough councillor Leigh Higgins, who represents the Somerby ward, said: “I very much welcome the great community spirit in the Somerby ward celebrating The Queen’s 90th birthday. The beacons were lit by Bill Fryer BEM in Somerby and John Pridmore and Rebecca Spencer at Twyford.
“I bought two lots of birthday cake which seemed to be eaten and enjoyed quicker than the beacon could be lit! “I’d like to thank Somerby Parish Council, Somerby Photo Club, Twyford Recreation Ground and all those who took part for all their help and support in putting on the events.”
