Excited primary and secondary pupils from in and around the Melton area starred at a concert last night (Saturday) which raised more than £500 for Children In Need.

An audience of about 200 family and friends enjoyed the music performed by the students of local clarinet and piano teacher Jill Wallis. Other entertainment on the night included a raffle and a student bake off competition, judged by Melton Vale Post 16 Centre principal Kirstie Black.

The concert, held in John Ferneley College’s auditorium, featured classics and contemporary clarinet and piano solos and duets.

Jill, who organised the event, said: “My students, who range from beginners to Grade 8 level, played a variety of pieces in styles from Chopin to Imagine Dragons so there was an eclectic mix!

“We raised £510 for Children In Need and I’d like to thank all the pupils who took part, everyone who came on the night and all those who supported the event.”
