Car catches fire in car park of busy Melton Cattle Market

Firefighters were alerted when a car caught fire in the car park at Melton Cattle Market this morning (Tuesday).

The market was busy as usual during its popular Tuesday trading day when the alarm was sounded at 9.47am.

A crew from Melton fire station attended and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue commented: “A car was well alight and crews used two breathing apparatus in dealing with it.

“The car fire is now out and the crew will spend an hour damping down.”
