Westleigh plans to construct 97 two, three and four bedroom properties on land off Leicester Road.

The development, which will be called Melton Fields, will feature 65 affordable two and three-bedroom homes available for sale, rent or shared ownership.

Prices of individual properties are due to be released soon and those for private sale will be available through the Government’s new Help to Buy Equity Loan scheme.

Robert Orr, sales and marketing manager at Westleigh, said: “We are pleased to be able to bring high quality new homes to Melton Mowbray, and look forward to beginning work on this project.

“The government-backed Help-to-Buy scheme will be available, and gives buyers the option of taking a 20 per cent interest-free equity loan on their new property with just a five per cent deposit, meaning that only a 75 per cent mortgage is required.

“We’d advise anyone in the area who is considering moving to a new home to look out for updates on this development.”

The scheme was recently approved by Melton Council’s planning committee and the developers expect to start work on building the homes by the end of this year.
