One of Leicestershire’s most prestigious events venues has seen a 50 per cent increase in weddings in the past 12 months.

Belvoir Castle, home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland, has seen a spike in bookings, thanks in part to the unveiling of the Lakeside Marquee, which has tripled capacity for couples looking to invite a longer guest list.

Tanith Wesson, events business development manager at Belvoir Castle, said: “We’ve seen a demand for bigger, more elaborate weddings, and knew we had to offer something alongside the spectacular castle setting.”

The castle itself, which can cater for 120 guests, is situated atop the hill overlooking surrounding countryside. The Lakeside Marquee, which is big enough to host up to 500 people, is set in a landscape of trees and grassland.
