There will be an opportunity to kick your Christmas shopping off early on Saturday at a popular annual event in Melton.

The Fairtrading Post will be holding its festive preview from 9am until 8pm at the Christian Centre on Nottingham Street, Melton, which is next door to the Sit and Settle cafe.

A spokesperson for the organisation said: “This is an opportunity to have a good look round the masses of gifts, food stuffs, hampers and goodies that are on offer to pre-order so people can say they’ve well and truly started their Christmas shopping.

“To be honest, there is always something for everyone at the preview, so all the shopping can be done in our one-stop Aladdin’s Cave of delights.

“Once people have had a look around, they can sit down with a free cuppa and a biscuit.”

Everything at the preview is a fairly-traded gift with well-made and unusual items up for grabs, such as crafts, jewellery, household items, Christmas cards and food hampers.

Fairtrade helps lift individuals and communities out of poverty. As well as a fair price, producers are supported with training and their communities get a fair trade premium to improve water availability, schools and health.

This is the 10th anniverary of the launch of the Fairtrading Post, which is based in Market Place in the town.
