A pioneering £800,000 skills centre in Melton, aiming to help people prepare for the world of work, will open up to the public on Tuesday, July 8.

Melton Council’s Me and My Learning Centre, based at Phoenix House in Nottingham Road, effectively provides a ‘one-stop shop’ providing training, skills, support and advice all under one roof.

The project, which involves a number of partners and which works with local employers, aims to provide job-seekers with work ready skills and help vulnerable residents to become digitally, financially and socially independent.

Jobseekers and other people can find out what the centre can offer them by attending the open day from 11.30am-4pm.

People will be able to speak to organisations, in confidence, about their needs and the support services available to them.

l People are advised to pre-register due to demand, and be in with a chance of winning a range of vouchers kindly donated by Sainsbury’s and Melton Council, by visiting or calling (01664) 502342.
