Easter party launch for upgraded Melton market stalls

Visitors will get free give aways, balloons and hot cross buns, in Market Place from 10.30am.

There will also be music and entertainment.

Bright new coverings have been ordered as an upgrade to replace existing ageing stall furniture.

Market Place, South Parade and Cheapside stalls will get the makeover first.

Ian Neale, chairman of the town estate market committee, said: “The upgrade of market stalls is much needed and has been worked on by the trustees of the town estate feoffee for the last 18 months, in partnership with the chamber of trade and the Melton Bid Company.

“It is planned to improve all the stalls of our markets.

“The first phase of this re-development is the Market Place area, which will be followed by Nottingham Street and then Sherard Street.”
