Reception and Year 1 pupils from Whissendine Primary School learned all about railways, how a steam engine works and enjoyed a ride on one of the small trains. Also paying the railway a visit later in the day was a group of Sherard School pupils.

Nigel Spencer, press officer for Stapleford Miniature Railway, said: “The children absolutely loved it. We’ve been doing this for a few years now and it’s just nice to be able to do something like this and put something back into the community.”
