Asfordby landlady Fran Ecob, who runs the village’s Horseshoes pub, has scooped a publican of the year runner-up award from Batemans Brewery.
The Wainfleet-based brewer has around sixty pubs so Fran’s recent award is no mean achievement.
Dave Eatherington, of the Melton branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, said: “Since taking over running the pub, around two-and-a-half years ago, Fran has turned its fortunes around with a 76 per cent increase in turnover after introducing a food menu and Sky TV among other things. We appreciate her skill of keeping an excellent pint of beer. Fran and her five staff also do a take-away food service and she’s also been known to run her customers home if they were stuck for transport.”
