LEICESTERSHIRE will fall under the bluetongue protection zone on Monday meaning the vaccine can be rolled out.
The announcement, made today, means stock from Lincolnshire and elsewhere in the east, can be brought to Melton Cattle Market for auction, but animals from the west cannot move here.

The news comes after prices at this week's sale were the best for more than a decade and should help boost the industry in the future.

But the National Farmers' Union is warning that if some livestock owners do not vaccinate their animals, it could mean there is a disease reservoir and bluetongue remains active.
