An award-winning gastro pub near Melton has gone on the market.

The Berkeley Arms in Wymondham is seeking a suitable operator to take over the running of the popular village pub.

Over the past five years the business has been run by Neil and Louise Hitchen. They have scooped a clutch of awards including The Harden’s 2014 Award, TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2013 and Bib Gourmand Awards in the 2012, 2013 and 2014 Michelin Guides.

The business has also received glittering reviews in the Independent, The Telegraph and Alastair Sawday’s Pubs and Inns of England and Wales.

Louise said: “We took over in 2010 and have run the pub for the past five years.

“Both of us have decided to take a break and have some time off before deciding what to do next.

“It was always our plan to do five years and we believe this is the right time to move on.

“We’re sad to be leaving because we have the most amazing, honest staff and loyal customers who have been pivotal to our success.

“In the meantime, until a sale is agreed, we’re very much dedicated to The Berkeley Arms and it’s very much business as usual.”

The Berkeley Arms is available for sale with property advisors Christie + Co, for leasehold terms of £175,000.
