A SMALL group of animal rights campaigners gathered outside Twinlakes Park on Sunday as part of a national series of demonstrations.
The demonstrations, organised by the Captive Animals’ Protection Society, were held at about 11 different ‘zoos’ up and down the country over the Easter weekend.
Abbie, of the Hidden England Animal Rights Group, which took part in the Twinlakes demonstration, said: “Our stance is that animals shouldn’t be kept in captivity full stop. That was the message we were really trying to get out to people.
“Most people were polite to us and were happy to take the information.”
The Melton Times contacted Twinlakes for a response but it declined to comment.
