FRIDAY 8AM: A windfarm in the Vale of Belvoir is still on the cards following a company's appeal to overturn its refusal.
Developers Infinergy had its plans for a site at Thackson's Wells Farm knocked back by the local authority in Lincolnshire but has now put it forward for a public inquiry.

But the news has been met with resistance by Belvoir Locals Oppose Turbines
(Blot) which has set up an online petition opposing the proposal as well as another planned development near Normanton.

A spokesman for the group said: "To highlight the destruction of our countryside and the alarming rise in wind developers scoping areas so close to homes, we have set up a Downing Street petition calling for a 2km minimum distance from industrial turbines and dwellings.

"This policy has been adopted in many other countries, to alleviate the health problems being experienced from low frequency noise and flicker."

An Infinergy spokesman said: "In addition to the positive environmental impacts, we believe the Thackson's Well project would bring further benefits to the local community, including creating employment for local contractors during the development phase and offering an ongoing trust fund for local community initiatives."

Another firm Ridgewind has permission to build an anemometer to test the suitability of a windfarm at a separate site in the Vale.
