The idea is to come up with a number of practical projects which the businesses themselves can take on, working alongside Melton Town Centre Partnership and Melton Council.
Those who attend will also be able to hear about how Melton could establis
h its own Business Improvement District (BID), a limited company which would charge all businesses a levy to fund improvements.
Mo Aswat, of Mosaic Consulting, has been advising towns and cities across the region and eight have already gone down this route, generating upwards of £100,000 per annum, and he will be leading the Melton event.
He said: "We are hoping to attract up to 60 businesses to this half-day event and strengthen the partnership which already exists. We want people to think of projects which will add value and make a difference over and above what the council can do.
"If, at some point in the future, a majority of Melton businesses voted in favour of setting up a BID, most would pay just £250 a year into the kitty but by working together the town cold achieve an awful lot."
A time and venue for the event is expected soon.
