THURSDAY 1PM: Foreign languages and cultures took over for a day at Whissendine School.
All the children wore costumes from France, Spain, Germany or Italy and spent the day celebrating the different cultures as part of the European Day of Languages.

Spanish teacher Sonia Schofield said: "The response from everyone was fantastic. All the children had an enjoyable day while enriching and enhancing their creative skills."

The morning was kicked off with a continental breakfast while watching Shrek in Spanish or Dora the Explorer in French.

There were language lessons, games of petanque and pinata, a themed lunch and art and design sessions.

The day was rounded off with a cooking demonstration by chef Aaron Patterson who made pasta and bread dough.
