MONDAY 3PM: New jobs could be created at a leading Syston firm if proposals to extend its operations are approved.
Pukka Pies Limited, based at the Half Croft, has applied to Charnwood Council for planning permission for a number of extensions to its factory.

A design and access statement submitted with the plans says the extensions would provide more freezer space and associated plant rooms required for the storage of its expanded product range.

Managing director Tim Storer said: "As production increases we now require more storage space for finished product, raw materials and goods in progress.

"The planning permission is put forward to facilitate our continued expansion and further mechanisation. We envisage maintaining our staff numbers during the day shift but increasing our evening shift by maybe 10 or 15 members."

The application will be decided by Charnwood Council planning officials in due course.
