FRIDAY 1pm: A Melton woman is swimming the distance of the English Channel to help raise more than £500,000 for one of the UK's leading spinal cord injury charities Aspire.
Mum-of-two Rebecca Scoble (33) is taking part in the Aspire Channel Swim for the third time this year to get fit and rekindle her love for swimming.

She said: "After the birth of my second son I've found getting back into shape more difficult than after having my first baby. I've always loved swimming but with two little boys I find my time is taken up with them and I get very little opportunity to do things for myself.

"This challenge represents that opportunity and I will also hopefully raise a decent amount of money for Aspire."

Rebecca will swim the 22-mile distance in her local Waterfield Leisure Pool and must complete the challenge by December 7.

Between September 15 and December 7 thousands of swimmers across the country will embark on this epic swimming challenge in their local pools to help Aspire to reach its target of £500,000.

Aspire's Rosie Cotton said: "Every year the money raised from the Aspire Channel Swim goes towards helping people with spinal cord injuries.

"Aspire makes a difference by providing a number of practically-based projects designed to ensure the spinally injured have many of their immediate and future needs met, so they can start and continue to live their lives as independently as possible."
