Mayor Mal Sheldon visited the Waltham Pet Nutrition Centre to see Mars Petcare's work at first hand and to learn more about its community programme.
He was shown round the excellent facilities, including the new dog research wing, by Dr Abigail Stevenson and corporate affairs executive Jenny Knight.

The Mars in the Community programme was launched last year and has already seen Mars staff help complete a £45,000 project to revamp Priors Close park in Melton. Charitable donations can also be applied for via www.marsinthecommunity.co.uk linked to healthy lifetstyles, environment and pet welfare.

Jenny said: "Our programme was designed to enhance our relationship with the community in which we operate and to enable our associates to be involved in activities that benefit the local area."
