Man robbed on bus

WEDNESDAY 3PM: Police are hunting two suspects who assaulted and robbed a man on a bus in Syston.
The incident happened at 10.30am on Friday (October 31) on the number 5 bus travelling from Belgrave Gate towards Syston.

The victim sat upstairs towards the back of the bus with two friends and became aware of a group of two men and two women sit
ting in front of him.

After the two women and the victim's two friends got off the bus at separate stops in Melton Road, the two men approached the victim and assaulted him.

They demanded his property and the victim handed over his wallet containing a small amount of cash, his Sony Ericsson mobile phone and cigarettes.

All three got off the bus outside the health centre in Melton Road and the suspects ran off towards East Goscote turning right onto Central Avenue.

The victim received minor injuries.

The first suspect is described as white, 20-23-years-old, about 5ft 10ins tall and of medium build. He has brown hair and was wearing a green and brown striped jumper.

The second suspect is described as white, in his early 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build. He had a bald head and was wearing a white jumper with stripes on.

Pc Phil Porter, who is investigating, said: "I'm keen to hear from anybody who was travelling on the number 5 bus towards East Goscote at this time and who has any information regarding what happened."
