Local man held in cocaine crackdown

THURSDAY NOON: A Melton man was arrested in connection with one of the UK's largest drugs hauls this week.
Police raided a lorry in an Essex port, seizing 135kg of cocaine on Saturday, May 3.

The 32-year-old man from Melton was arrested in connection with the case and has been bailed until Tuesday, July 1.

On Wednesday, three other men from Kendal and Preston were charged with conspiracy to import cocaine and fraudulent evasion of prohibition on the importation of cocaine and remanded in custody in Carlisle

Two of them were also charged with conspiracy to supply amphetamine.

Another two men from Grantham were released on police bail, while a 55-year-old from Nottingham is still being questioned.
