FRIDAY 2pm: East Midlands Trains has announced plans for later evening services from Nottingham and Leicester as part of its new timetable.
Passengers in Syston, Barrow and Sileby are set to benefit when the timetable comes into operation on December 14.
It will offer some of the biggest improvements on the network in several years, with new services, more trains on key routes, faster journey times, better connections and a more regular service across the whole network.
Tim Shoveller, managing director of East Midlands Trains said: "In addition to the very visible changes we are making such as £90m of investment in refurbished fleet, depots and stations, 14 December sees a completely new, vastly improved timetable for our network.
"Our passengers have been telling us that they would like a later evening service from Nottingham to Barrow upon Soar, Sileby and Syston, providing them with an opportunity to enjoy an early meal in the bustling City of Nottingham, and we're pleased that our changes to the timetable will offer that opportunity.
"The later service from Leicester will also allow passengers to catch a later connection when travelling back home from London, allowing more time for a day out in the capital."
The new East Midlands Trains service will leave Nottingham at the later time of 21.32, almost an hour later than the current time of 20.38. The new service from Leicester will leave at the later time of 21.25, whereas the last train currently leaves at 20.34.
Tim continues: "We are confident the changes in our timetable will provide a much better service for the majority of passengers, offering more choice, more seats and therefore encouraging even more people to use the train."
Copies of the new timetable will be available from Friday 14 November at East Midlands Trains' stations and on the website, www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk
Passengers can also register to receive their own personalised timetable when full details are released in November, register now on www.eastmidlandstrains.co.uk/myjourneys
