Julie Emerson's 15-year-old son was the last known person to speak to her father, Michael Grocock, at around 9pm on Christmas Eve.
However, Mr Grocock was due to visit his daughter and family at their Bottesford home on Christmas Day, but never ar
rived.
It is believed he left his home in Whatton, near Bingham, at some point on Christmas Day, although his subsequent whereabouts are unknown.
However, Mr Grocock's car, a black Nissan Note Acenta, registration FT57 GXG, was found by police outside the Unicorn pub in Gunthorpe, on Sunday, December 28.
Mrs Emerson is now pleading for him to return home and is asking the public to provide information about his whereabouts.
"My dad's disappearance is totally unexpected and totally out of character," she said.
"He lives his life for his family, who he loves very much, and is very organised and methodical. I know he has recently been depressed and we have all tried to help him.
"My hope is that dad has gone away to sort out his problems and will return when he is ready."
Mr Grocock is white and described as around 6ft tall, of medium build, with grey hair and brown eyes.
It is thought he was wearing green Wellington boots, dark tracksuit bottoms, a lumberjack-style shirt, dark fleece and black winter coat when he went missing.
Police have carried out searches in the area Mr Grocock's car was found, however officers are asking anyone with any information about Mr Grocock's whereabouts to contact Nottinghamshire Police on (0115) 967 0999.
