THURSDAY: A team from Melton Vineyard Church will be heading out to Honduras on a mission next Friday.
The 12 volunteers will be spending 16 days working with a local church and orphanage in a poor district on the outskirts of La Ceiba, teaching English and helping out at the church feeding station.

It is the third time a team from the community church has visited the Central American country with previous trips in 2006 and 2008.

Spokesman Phil Denton said: "The aim is to use our skills and abilities to help make a difference to people's lives.

"We will be teaching English in the school that is linked to the orphanage and helping to feed around 300 people a day as well as undertaking various building projects, including work on a new free medical clinic and toilet block."

In recent months the team has been raising additional funds for the trip to purchase building materials for the capital projects as well as collecting clothes to give to people when they are out there.

Members of the team have taken part in things such as the Race for Life, an open mic night and a Three Peaks Challenge.

They have also been supported by local businesses including Samworth Brothers, Tuxford and Tebbutt and The Fairtrading Post.
