The building will be demolished this summer 57 years after it opened its doors to make way for a high-tech shiny new Post 16 Centre.
Over the past few weeks, the Melton Times has run features on the memories of the school which has proved to be a
popular topic.
And for the last time, past pupils, staff and extended family got together in the hall to celebrate its life, getting through 220 cartons of strawberries and 250 glasses of Pimms.
June Nudds was at the school from 1953 - 56, and joined her sisters Jacqui Wright (53-55) and Janet Burton (52-53), all nee Kirk for the day.
They said: "It has been a wonderful day. It's really nice to be back and see all our old school friends and compare the difference from how it was when we were here.
"Some of the changes aren't for the better, there was a lovely little chapel but that seems to have gone. It is a real shame it is coming down. What's wrong with it? Why can't they keep it?"
And there were many members of staff who returned to see the place.
Marlene Radford worked in the kitchens from 1977 to 2006 and met up with her former colleagues Lesley Doubleday and Maxine Yeoman, who are still at the school.
Marlene said: "We had such a good time in the kitchens. It was a really great place to work so it is nice to come back and see everyone."
Lesley said: "I came here in the 1970s and I've worked here for 11 years. It is lovely to come back and see school friends and all the old teachers."
Visitors on Saturday were treated to music from the pupils as well as an LP made in the 1970s while children enjoyed a bouncy castle and games.
A display of old photographs was also arranged around the school and students offered guided tours.
Ray Waring, who works at King Edward VII School and kick-started the idea for the extravaganza back in February, said: "It has been such a good atmosphere, we've had a fantastic day. Everyone has worked so hard to ensure it's been a good event."
The building will shut its doors forever on Friday, July 10 as the last set of pupils start their summer holidays.
It will be handed over to the contractors on July 13 and demolished over the coming months with the Post 16 Centre completed by 2011.
