FRIDAY 3.10pm: A chance to dance, meet and pick up advice attracted more than 100 older people to Melton Council's main chamber for Seniors' Day.
Stalls and entertainment greeted visitors to the event which is designed to ensure more mature Melton residents get the most out of life.
Talks on home safety and security, advice on claiming benefits plus lunch and an array of stalls were on offer at the council's Nottingham Road offices.
The day was the main event of a month-long programme of events planned by Melton Seniors' Forum.
Councillor Pat Cumbers said: "It's about informing the older members of the community and bringing together all sorts of agencies on one day. There's advice on benefits, health and safety, transport and exercise plus input from the voluntary sector.
"For instance when you're 60 you are entitled to a travel pass which some people still don't realise."
Dora Northern (84) from Salisbury Avenue, Melton, said: "I heard about the day from a council mailing list I'm on and the home safety talk was the most useful thing. It's a good chance to get out of the house and I'll be having a look at the information on offer."
Seniors' Month ends on Friday, September 28.
