VIDEO THURSDAY 10.50AM
Children from St Francis' Primary School in Melton enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience singing at the Royal Albert Hall.
The pupils joined a massed choir from Leicestershire taking part in the National Festival of Music for Youth Schools' Prom on Tuesday evening in London.

Headteacher Denise Shipston said: "It was an excellent day, tiring but enjoyable, and the performance was just magnificent. Their singing was absolutely beautiful and in that building it was breathtaking."

The 20-strong choir, led by music teacher Miranda Willder, joined others from across Leicestershire to sing five songs from Food With Attitude, a piece specially commissioned by County Hall from composer Alan Simmons.

They were accompanied by musicians and dancers who were also from the county, including Melton ballet dancers Jordan Butcher and Maddison Ashton, both 11.

Over the course of the day they had rehearsals, watched inspiring musicians from around the country and finished the night off with some flag waving and a rendition of Land of Hope and Glory.

lThe same choir will be singing at the Lord Mayor of Leicester's carol concert in De Montfort Hall on December 3, and will be joined by the remainder of the 40-strong St Francis choir to sing in the Menphys carol concert, again at De Montfort Hall, on December 7. The whole school choir will then sing in Leicester Cathedral with the Leicester Bach Choir on December 15.
