THIS picture is of a Boys' Brigade company from nearly 40 years ago, and on Saturday a big reunion will take place in East Goscote.
The photograph, taken in 1972, was sent in by Jeff Matthews, of Sysonby Street, Melton, the present captain of the 22nd Leicester (East Goscote) company formed in April 1969 by his father, Don, now 74 (the bearded gent on the far right of the picture).
Jeff said: "The company had no base so Roy Clarke of Three Ways Farm in Queniborough found suitable room to allow the 12 boys and officers to develop the company. Then, with the guidance of St Hilda's Church and the building of the village hall, the unit grew from strength to strength with many former members bringing their sons along from surrounding villages and Melton."
The 40 year reunion party will be held at St Hilda's from noon to 3pm. Mr Matthews said: "We will be delighted to see all ex-boys and officers, parents and friends on this special occasion on Saturday."
For more information call Mr Matthews on (01664) 850795.
