A new play for children ‘A Boy and a Bear in a Boat’ got the thumbs up from families at Melton Library on Tuesday.

Over 35 children, aged eight and under, watched the production based on the award winning book by Dave Shel-ton, who was born and raised in Leicestershire.

The play was scripted by leading young person’s play-wright Stuart Melton and was presented by The Sparks Arts for Children in association with Nottinghamshire Coun-ty Council.

The one hour performance featured live music and move-ment and took children on a thrilling sea adventure.

Kerry Collins, Melton Li-brary’s outreach worker said: “The children loved it and so did the parents as the play had a little something in it for everybody.”
