Meet celebrity chef Rachel Green

Rachel Green is known as a passionate campaigner for local, seasonal, British food. A farmer's daughter from Lincolnshire, her family have farmed in the county for 14 generations.

Rachel has helped lamb ewes, lift potatoes, strip peas from the vine and combine the wheat.

"It means I have a huge respect for producers," she declares, "I know just how much hard work has gone into it!"

As a caterer, she has cooked for eight to 800, many times for the Royal Family, and ran her own restaurant Grainthorpe Hall for several years.

She cooks often on radio and television, including the BBC's first-ever interactive TV series, alongside Delia Smith, Rick Stein and Gary Rhodes.

Rachel has had a busy 2008 – working on Market Kitchen (UKTV Food) cooking rabbit with Tom Parker Bowles and Matthew Fort; as a food critic on Marco Pierre White's Great British Feast; spear-headeding a cook-off with Alan Titchmarsh and the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire at the Chatsworth Country Fair; conducting a day of radio interviews in London for Seafood Fortnight; demonstrating in the Lincolnshire Pavilion at the Royal Show and at The York Festival of Food and Drink.

Later this month she is appearing as one of 20 top chefs at the Restaurant Show, Earls Court.

Her work is featured in many publications including Hello! Fresh, You Are What You Eat, Family Circle and Love It!

She is also official champion for Tastes of Lincolnshire – see www.visitlincolnshire.com – and face of the East Midlands, for the Taste England campaign launched by Visit Britain – see www.VisitBritain.org

Rachel published her first book last year, Rachel Green's Chatsworth Cookery Book, featuring produce from the famous farm shop and estate, and the surrounding East Midlands countryside.
