Rent, which will play to audiences from Wednesday to next Saturday (November 11 to 14), is an upbeat rock musical with music and lyrics by Jonathan Larson based on Giacomo Puccini's opera La Bohème.
It tells the story of a group of young artists and musicians struggling to survive in New York's Lower East Side in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of AIDS.
Brooksby Melton College has been lucky enough to get the full performance rights to this production which has been voted one of the Top Five most popular musicals of all time.
This epic rock opera is of regional significance as the Haymarket in Leicester was the first theatre to put Rent on in the UK.
Rent can also calm some responsibility for helping to increase the popularity of musical theatre among the younger generation and this Brooksby Melton College performance will involve collaboration across our performing and creative arts academies, involving students from musical theatre, acting, dance, film and media.
It's an edgy, contemporary production and comes highly recommended.
Curtain up is 7.30pm with an additional matinee performance at 1pm on the Friday.
Tickets cost £10, concessions £8, available from the box office on (01664) 851111 or via
